Overview
The Bakers Ferry Center is a 12-bed, 24-hour
emergency shelter care facility serving male
youths who are awaiting court dates for delinquent
and/or status offenses. The program offers a
therapeutic environment that emphasizes accountability
for behavior while promoting growth, responsibility,
and goal achievement.
Objective
The goal of the Bakers Ferry Center program
is to promote positive behavioral change; to
develop the youth’s sense of accountability
and responsibility; and to facilitate successful
integration into society. The center follows
the Balance and Restorative Justice (BARJ) model,
which emphasizes accountability and reparation
to victims and the community. Additionally,
therapeutic curriculums address “Thinking
For A Change” to promote positive cognitive
behavior outcomes.
Population Served
Bakers Ferry Center serves boys aged 9 through
17 who are awaiting a court date and cannot
be released back to their families or a relative,
and who meet Department of Juvenile Justice
protocol for non-secure detention placement,
and Bakers Ferry Center referral protocol.
Other Admission Criteria
Other factors for admission may include: Severity
of dysfunction, particularly as related to daily
living skills, housing, employment, and social
support; number of crises requiring hospitalization;
and/or shortfall in the provision of necessary
services.
Fees & Charges
There is no charge to the client for services.
Bakers Ferry Center is operated under contract
with the State of Georgia Department of Juvenile
Justice.

Hours of Operation
The Bakers Ferry Center is a full-time residential
program. Youth are supervised 24 hours a day,
365 days a year.
